BANJALUKA, MAY 29 /SRNA/ - Minister of European Integration and International Cooperation of Republika Srpska, Zlatan Klokić, tells SRNA that the economic connections to encourage economic development are primary goal of the Strategic Plan for Cooperation with the Diaspora, adopted by the Government of Srpska.

"Our goal is to improve cooperation with the Diaspora, primarily by improving and achieving the quality of communications with the Diaspora, but also by pointing its importance out to the domestic public," said Klokić.

According to him, the Strategic Plan implies the preservation of national identity through the protection of cultural and spiritual identity, and the promotion of cultural achievements of Republika Srpska in countries where our Diaspora exists.

"Tighter cooperation in the science and innovation sector through the internationalisation of science and innovation is inevitable, as well as cooperation in sports, youth and all sectors important for Republika Srpska," Klokić emphasized.

He added that after the adoption of the Strategic Plan, this Ministry, in cooperation with other departments, would make an action plan for the implementation of this document.

"The working group that developed this document will soon adopt an action plan for the implementation of everything that is set for the goal of this strategic document," Klokić explained.

According to him, it will be necessary to strengthen the role of the Republika Srpska representative offices abroad, especially in those countries where the Diaspora is significant, such as Austria, Germany, the Russian Federation, the USA and Serbia.

Klokić reminded that the Ministry for European Integration and International Cooperation of Republika Srpska, through the Diaspora Forum and the Srpska Representative Offices in the Kingdom of Belgium, launched an initiative for all citizens living in the Diaspora to register on the "Srpska Club" website and submit their data.

"In that way, our institutions would have constant communications with these citizens. Last year, the Diaspora representatives from 29 countries participated in the Forum, from all continents, thus the doors of our institutions are open to all of them," Klokić pointed out.

He emphasized that he was extremely satisfied with the organisation of the humanitarian flight to Moscow, bringing about 70 citizens of Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH back to Banjaluka.

"The Republika Srpska Emergency Situations Staff made a decision which supported the initiative by Serb member of the BiH Presidency BiH Milorad Dodik to organise a flight for the citizens from Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH, but also citizens of Serbia, who stayed in the Russian Federation due to the coronavirus pandemic, as well as Russians who remained in Republika Srpska and Serbia," Klokić said.

He added that this flight was much needed, especially if we take into account the fact that many citizens of Srpska and the entire BiH in the Russian Federation lost their jobs due to the pandemic, with large number of students who could not come home for months. /end/vos
