EXTRADITION FROM CROATIA, COLONEL LUKAJIĆ ESCORTED TO BANJALUKA PENITENTIARY

 

BANJALUKA, JANUARY 20 /SRNA/ - Retired Republika Srpska Army Colonel Dane Lukajić, who was sentenced to six years in prison in Croatia for war crimes, was escorted to the Banjaluka Penitentiary, the Republika Srpska Justice Ministry told SRNA.

 

Lukajić was extradited from Croatia to the Banjaluka Penitentiary on Wednesday.

The Republika Srpska Judicial Police told SRNA it took over Lukajić from the Velika Klaudiša border crossing.

The Zagreb County Court charged Lukajić with war crimes against prisoners at Manjača outside Banjaluka. Apart from command responsibility, he is also accused of personally harassing the prisoners.

Lukajić was arrested on June 30, 2018 in Petrovo Selo in Lika on suspicion of having committed a crime against prisoners of war on Manjača near Banjaluka in September 1992.

He was arrested while traveling to mark the Day of Remembrance of Jadovno and the 77th anniversary of the suffering of more than 40,000 people in the Ustasha death camps complex Gospić-Jadovno-Pag. /end/vos
