BELGRADE, DECEMBER 1 /SRNA/ - The war drama called “Dara from Jasenovac,” directed by Predrag Gaga Antonijević, which is also Serbia's representative in a race for Oscar, has entered the official race for the Golden Globe Award, not only in the category for the best foreign movie, but in all other categories, reports the Večernje Novosti daily.

This race for the most prestigious film award, right after Oscar, is a huge success of the Serbian movie, as not a single Serbian movie has been in a race for the Golden Globe Award in all categories, says the daily.

A ceremony of presentation of awards that are awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is scheduled for February 28, 2021.

The Golden Globe Award is always anticipated with great excitement as this is most often an announcement as to which films and artists will get Oscar that will be awarded on April 25.

The paper says that the fact that the right to show a drama about the sufferings of Serbian children in the Ustashe concentration camps in WWII, which Serbia waited for 75 years, was bought by the famous US Company “101 Studios,” gives the hope that the movie “Dara from Jasenovac” will be successful in the race for the most important award.

Thanks to the Studio's agreement with the Universal Pictures, “Dara” will be a rare film of the Serbian cinematography which, in addition to the American, will have world distribution.

The airing of the movie about the unheard of crimes against Serbian children in the Nazi puppet Independent State of Croatia /NDH/, will start in January 2021 for the American public, and a Belgrade premiere is scheduled for April 22, at the 76th anniversary of the breakthrough of the Jasenovac concentration camp inmates. /end/sg
