SARAJEVO, FEBRUARY 19 /SRNA/ - PDP president Branislav Borenović has said that the Constitutional Court of BiH has been burdening the country for more than 20 years and that it is clear to everyone that any normal country cannot go anywhere if it has foreigners in its Constitutional Court.

“It is necessary to find a mechanism to replace foreign judges with domestic ones,” Borenović told Srna commenting on the statement from the Peace Implementation Council /PIC/ in which everyone, except for the Russian Federation, gave unreserved support to the work of this Court and its judges.

According to him, domestic judges in the BiH Constitutional Court should be professionals, who would not come from political parties and who would do their job seriously and responsibly.

“This is why an effort should be made, and this is where a great responsibility of political parties and other political factors lies as they should find a way to deal with this great challenge,” said Borenović who is also a member of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.

He has said that it is important to be wise and make institutional decisions, and recalled that it was agreed that a bill on termination of office of foreign judges and appointment of domestic judges to the Constitutional Court of BiH would be proposed to the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.

Borenović has said that the Constitutional Court in the past 10 to 15 years became a mechanism for the implementation of the SDA politics, which, he says, party leader Bakir Izetbegović clearly said.

“This is unacceptable, but also bad and detrimental to BiH, particularly if we have in mind the fact that judges from the top of the SDA establishment sit in the Constitutional Court,” Borenović said and added that it was visible that appeals by their people always get the support from most members of the Constitutional Court through outvoting of judges from Republika Srpska.

The Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council /PIC SB/ reiterates its full support for the work of the BiH Constitutional Court and all its judges, says a statement from the PIC SB which was not supported by the Russian Federation.

The press release says that the decisions of the Constitutional Court are final and binding, and must be implemented by the respective authorities. /end/sg
