28 YEARS SINCE DEATH OF SOLDIERS IN FORMER JNA STREET MARKED

BROD, MARCH 25 /SRNA/ - Wreaths were laid today in the Brod local community Rit, what used to be JNA Street, in front of a memorial to 12 members of the Yugoslav People's Army and Serb soldiers who were killed today 28 years ago.

The wreaths were laid by Brod Mayor Ilija Jovičić and the delegation of the Brod War Veterans Organisation.

Due to the state of emergency in Republika Srpska caused by the spread of coronavirus, no memorial service was held, no gatherings were allowed, which was explained to the family members of the killed soldiers in a telephone conversation, the War Veterans Organisation confirmed to SRNA.

The Brod War Veterans Organisation said that the Rit local community was, unfortunately, one of the symbols of the beginning of Serb people’s suffering in the past war.

"On this day, on March 25, in 1992, a crime was committed against innocent members of the Martić and Dujanić families, and the next day, crimes in Sijekovac took place and the killing of innocent Serb population continued," said Head of the Brod War Veterans Organisation, Zoran Vidić. /end/vos
