ŠKRBIĆ: SRPSKA INVOLVED IN RESEARCH ON NEW RUSSIAN CANCER VACCINE

BANJA LUKA, MAY 18 /SRNA/ - The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Ranko Škrbić, told SRNA that the institution is ready to participate in trials of a new Russian melanoma vaccine, and that he will travel to Russia tomorrow to finalize the details and arrange for a group of patients from Republika Srpska to be included in the treatment.

Škrbić expects that a group of patients from Srpska will be able to receive the Russian vaccine, which is in the final phase of clinical trials, as early as this fall. He explained that the vaccine will initially be available only in Russia, where patients from Srpska would travel for treatment, after which its application in Srpska may also be possible. The creator of the melanoma vaccine is the director of the Gamaleya Institute, Alexander Gintsburg, who also developed an mRNA cancer vaccine personalized for each specific tumor and individual patient. Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik recently met in Moscow with Alexander Gintsburg, who is also the creator of the Sputnik V vaccine, to discuss the possibility of applying the melanoma vaccine in Srpska.
