PAN-SERBIAN ASSEMBLY DECLARATION - GUIDE AND BEACON OF SERB NATIONAL POLICY FOR FUTURE
BANJA LUKA, JUNE 18 /SRNA/ - The strategic decision on Serb people’s common future is the basic postulate, meaning and guiding thread of the Serb national policy for the future and probably the most important epilogue of the Pan-Serbian Assembly and the most important moment of the Declaration protecting national and political rights and the common future of the Serb people, said Milan Tegeltija, advisor to the Republika Srpska president.
SRNA broadcasts Tegeltija's column entirely: The Pan-Serbian Assembly held in Belgrade on June 8, 2024 resulted in the Declaration protecting national and political rights and the common future of the Serb people. The 49-item declaration should be viewed as a comprehensive document of Serb national policy that, on one hand, has the role of identifying the challenges of Serb national policy in the current geopolitical environment, and on the other hand, has the role of projecting Serb national policy for the future. If we start from the very name of the Declaration /Declaration protecting national and political rights and the common future of the Serb people/, it is noticeable that the very title of the Declaration already projects the national and political commitment of the Serb national policy expressed as - "The Common Future of the Serb People". Such a commitment for the "common future of the Serb people", although it permeated Serb politics, has not been written in any national document so far, and has enormous national and strategic importance in Serb national politics. That title of the Declaration determines both its meaning and its directions of activities. It could be said that for the first time the Serb people have a political-strategic document of a unifying commitment and character that recognizes the Serb nation as one and unique with a common indivisible future, whatever that future may be. If we go through the entire Declaration and all its 49 items, we can clearly see how each of the item of that declaration follows the basic thread of the Declaration expressed in its title "common future". I am free to say that this strategic decision on the "common future of the Serb people" is also its basic postulate, its meaning and the guiding thread of Serb national policy for the future and is probably the most important epilogue of the Pan-Serbian Assembly and the most important moment of the entire Declaration. As I said, the strategic national-political documents of the Serb people, have not had such commitment in the written document so far. So far, only the Serbian Orthodox Church and perhaps shyly the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts had such a common future and indivisibility in its full capacity and narrative, while now this "common future of the Serb people" has come from that spiritual and intellectual sphere to the secular national-political sphere, being cemented into an official national-political document as an official strategic commitment of Serb national policy that will determine Serb national policy as a unique national policy of the Serb people. Through the Declaration, the friends, partners, and enemies of the Serb people were officially introduced to this commitment of the Serb national policy, which is a message and commitment of the Serb people which they will have to reckon with in all political and geopolitical processes in the Western Balkans. Also, all position holders of the Serb background are familiar with this commitment, wherever they hold these positions, and they will have to conduct all their activities in that strategic direction, which in itself gave the Declaration a coordinating political meaning. The clarity of the Declaration regarding the Serb strategic commitment to the "common future of the Serb people" is such that it leaves no room for anyone to have a dilemma as to what Serb national policy is and what Serb national goals are, which is what the Serbs as a political people have often lacked throughout history, which is why this Declaration has an exceptional historical and strategic character, so we could freely call it a guide and beacon of Serb national policy for the future.
