RADOVAN KARADŽIĆ IS STILL VERY WEAK

EAST SARAJEVO, FEBRUARY 11 /SRNA/ - The first President of Republika Srpska Radovan Karadžić is still very weak, sometimes he speaks a bit better, but the overall recovery process is very slow, his daughter Sonja Karadžić-Jovičević told SRNA.
"Sometimes he speaks a bit better, but then in the afternoon, it depends on who he's speaking with, he's weaker. It's a very slow recovery if it can even be considered recovery at all," said Karadžić-Jovičević. She emphasized that the procedure for Serbian doctors to visit the prison in Albany on the Isle of Wight, where Karadžić is serving his life sentence pronounced by the Hague Tribunal, is complicated. "I can't know that; they must go through the procedure for the visa and the permission from the Ministry of Justice of the UK Government, and the prison authorities on the Isle of Wight. I haven't been informed whether that procedure has been initiated, and those who intend to go must arrange it," Karadžić-Jovičević said. She emphasized that the procedure for an examination is particularly complicated, as Serbian doctors, just like in The Hague, will not be allowed to bring anything in, from a stethoscope to paper and a pen. According to her, if they truly intend to enter the procedure, the team that goes will see what they can do. She says she is available to advise the specialists, considering Karadžić's illness, on what steps they should take to examine him. "I already said last year, after returning from The Hague, when they examined General /Ratko/ Mladić, /Jovica/ Stanišić, and /Stojan/ Župljanin, who the specialists should be, considering all the issues he has. Doctor Vlado Đajić knows all of that, but we haven't spoken about it yet," Karadžić-Jovičević said. The Director of the University Clinical Center of Republika Srpska Vlado Đajić previously told SRNA that the doctors from this health institution are ready to examine the first President of Srpska Radovan Karadžić in prison in the United Kingdom. More than 4,000 citizens of Republika Srpska, Serbia, Montenegro, as well as Serbs from the United States, Canada, Germany, Sweden, and the Diaspora worldwide, have signed an online petition demanding the respect of human rights for Karadžić. The petition signing, which lasted for seven days, ended today, and all signatures will be handed over to Karadžić's lawyers, as stated on the petition's website. Radovan Karadžić is in the Albany prison on the Isle of Wight, where he is serving a life sentence pronounced by The Hague Tribunal. This prison has a reputation as one of the worst correctional facilities in the United Kingdom and does not meet many of the standards required by most European countries.
