EXHIBITION OF PORTRAITS OF JASENOVAC CONCENTRATION CAMP VICTIMS OPENS

KOZARSKA DUBICA, APRIL 14 /SRNA/ - An exhibition of portraits of victims of the Jasenovac concentration camp by academic painter Branko Jungić was opened in the building of the Kozarska Dubica Municipality.

This exhibition, created by museum advisor Tanja Tuleković and senior curator and historian Dejan Motl, is one of the events organized by the Public Institution Memorial Area Donja Gradina to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the breakout of prisoners from the Jasenovac camp. The Minister of Administration and Local Self-Government of Republika Srpska, Senka Jujić, thanked the leadership of the Memorial Area Donja Gradina for their dedicated work in preserving the memory of all that happened in the Jasenovac concentration camp and Donja Gradina. "It is our duty to convey to the youth, not only in Republika Srpska but in the entire world, what happened from 1941 to 1945 in this area. The data on the number of victims speak for themselves more than words can express, and the very fact that 20,000 children were killed in the most monstrous way in that camp says enough," said Jujić. Tuleković told reporters that the portraits were created based on photographs provided by citizens as part of the Memorial Area Donja Gradina’s initiative to collect photographs, items, and documents that testify to the Ustashe genocide committed in the Independent State of Croatia.
