SARAJEVO, APRIL 25 /SRNA/ – Director of the Center for Gender Equality of Republika Srpska, Maja Vekić, emphasized today that it is unacceptable for documents and policies in the area of human rights in the business sector to be adopted at the level of BiH joint institutions without prior consent from the Government of Republika Srpska.

"The drafting and adoption of such documents must be in accordance with constitutional competencies and in full consultation with the institutions of Republika Srpska," Vekić stated at the workshop titled "Policies for Respecting Human Rights in the Business Sector" held in Sarajevo. The aim of the workshop was to present the activities carried out so far within the framework of the program "Improving Corporate Responsibility for Human Rights in BiH", as well as to develop a plan for future activities and a new strategic document relating to respect for human rights in the business sector. On that occasion, Vekić stressed that this matter is already regulated by existing regulations at the entity level, with full respect for the constitutional competencies of the institutions of Republika Srpska. The workshop was organized by the Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees in the Council of Ministers and the Institute for Youth Development "Kult".
