ŠPIRIĆ: THOSE CALLING FOR FOREIGN INTERVENTION ARE ACTING AGAINST BiH’S INTERESTS

SARAJEVO, MAY 19 /SRNA/ – Chairman of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly Nikola Špirić stated today that those calling for foreign intervention are acting against the interests of BiH, emphasizing that Republika Srpska wants dialogue on all issues within BiH and never advocates for the imposition of solutions.
"We prefer to talk with anyone within BiH rather than invite outsiders to impose solutions. That's where we differ, because we are talking about the sovereignty of BiH. It's absurd that we are the ones advocating for sovereignty and yet are being accused of violating territorial integrity," Špirić said. He pointed out that BiH's problem is that it has been a guided country for 30 years, lacking true leadership, and that the Bosniaks have taken a position not of participating in dialogue, but of being intermediaries through whom others communicate—calling them "political extras." Responding to a question about whether he respects the laws passed by the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Špirić emphasized that he is a delegate in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly on behalf of that very assembly. "It’s not my role to comment on the laws passed by the /National/ Assembly. A delegate of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska does not debate the laws adopted by that Assembly. If he did, he would be the one deciding on them," Špirić told reporters in Sarajevo. He also recalled that out of 12 adopted EU-related laws, the "Troika" /coalition/ from Republika Srpska voted for only two and was not present for the vote on the remaining ten. "And what kind of European commitment is that?" Špirić asked. According to him, SNSD is acting in accordance with the Rules of Procedure, and the parliament is an institution for dialogue, amendments, and the adoption of the best laws—an effort in which SNSD has played an active role. Špirić also claimed that the "Troika" from the Federation of BiH is preparing for the 2026 elections to overtake the SDA, but has ended up stuck in its own mess, and that the SNSD is not responsible for the assistance they are receiving from the Republika Srpska's "Troika". "If they can get the job done, no problem. But if they can't, then they should step aside and stop misleading the public in BiH - that's my message," Špirić concluded.
