FILMING OF TV SERIES "FOLK CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS - HOLIDAYS THAT CONNECT US" COMPLETED

EAST SARAJEVO, MAY 22 /SRNA/ – The filming and post-production of the cultural and artistic TV series "Folk Customs and Traditions – Holidays That Connect Us" has been completed, produced by First Frame, from East Sarajevo.

"The series presents authentic Serbian customs related to the Slava /patron saint celebration/, Christmas and Easter. Our region is rich in diverse cultural heritage. In a multicultural world, heritage, customs, and traditions form the foundation of social development and progress," said series author, producer, and director Vitomir Mitrić. According to him, nurturing and passing on this living cultural heritage helps preserve history, culture, and tradition as essential parts of the Serbian people's identity and continuity. "Times change and customs adapt, but the series preserves and presents the core elements of the holidays, with the aim of passing them on to younger generations," Mitrić added. He emphasized that the series will show how tradition is not outdated or backward but a collection of the most valuable moments and virtues passed down by ancestors - legacy that must be preserved. "Presenting customs related to major Orthodox holidays as valuable cultural heritage and a part of tradition helps foster a deeper understanding of our cultural legacy," said Mitrić. The series will premiere on Radio Television of Republika Srpska in June, and its content will also be tailored for children and young audiences through modern communication platforms and media. Participants in the series include Protoiereus Boško Tošović, historian Delibor Kajević and ethnologists Danijela Đukanović and Nina Davidović. "We are grateful to the Kela family from Piskavica and the Prstojević family from Ulog for their hospitality and for allowing us to film their customs, as well as to ethnologist Branko Pjević for providing material from the ethnographic film `Đurđic,`" Mitrić said. Scenes of liturgies and interviews were filmed in the Church of St. Basil of Ostrog in Veljine, the Church of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel in Sarajevo, and the Church of St. Varnava in Vranješ. The production team, in addition to Mitrić, includes cameramen Slobodan Tintor, Luka Malić, Damjan Kasap, and Matija Štifanić; editor and graphics specialist Nemanja Puhalo; and sound recording and design engineer Goran Štifanić. The project was supported by the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications of Serbia through its 2024 co-financing competition for media content intended for the Serbian population in the region.
