KARAN: SRPSKA AND SERBIA WILL NOT BE A PARKING LOT FOR MIGRANTS IN EUROPE

BELGRADE, MAY 27 /SRNA/ - Counterintelligence retired officer Ljuban Karan believes that Serbia and Republika Srpska should remain cautious and consistent in their stance that they will not become a parking lot for migrants in Europe, as the increasingly frequent clashes in migrant camps across the region indicate that migrants are growing more nervous and desperate, with some even being terrorists.

Karan told SRNA that the reason migrants in camps in the Federation of BiH, as well as centers in Serbia and North Macedonia, are becoming more aggressive is due to the involvement of the "international mafia." “It may be that the increased nervousness is a factor, but wherever migrants are present, so is the international mafia, and they often engage in conflicts among themselves over profits made from human trafficking and other illegal activities. These disputes lead to clashes between migrants,” Karan believes. According to him, if someone truly wanted to solve the migration problem, it could be addressed in the migrants’ countries of origin. However, speaking about that is unrealistic because various interests are involved in the process. “There are those among the migrants who have a lot of money, but they are often people without the means to support themselves. They can be instructed on how to obtain money, which already poses a potential security risk. Along with them comes the potential danger of terrorism, as these groups are ideal for infiltrating trained terrorists who have already proven themselves in practice,” Karan said. He says that terrorists, hidden among migrants, were previously more motivated to carry out their actions in the West, but due to constant confrontations and the increasingly complicated situation in the Balkans, both Serbia and Republika Srpska need to remain cautious. “Republika Srpska is jeopardized from many directions. I am not sure that terrorism will not be directed at Republika Srpska as well, so caution is necessary, and Srpska must not be allowed to become a parking lot for migrants,” Karan said. In last night’s shooting at the migrant camp in Blažuj near Sarajevo, five migrants were seriously injured, two of whom are in critical condition. Just a few days earlier, on May 23, during an exchange of gunfire with police in the area between Šid and the Croatian border, one migrant was killed and several others were detained. During the operation by the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs, an improvised camp housing illegal migrants was found during a search of the area.
