ILLEGAL WEAPONS PRODUCTION IN FBiH – UNPRECEDENTED SCANDAL

SARAJEVO, JUNE 2 /SRNA/ – Member of the Joint Committee on Defense and Security of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Sanja Vulić, told SRNA that the illegal production of weapons and dual-use equipment at the Center for Advanced Technologies in Sarajevo represents an unprecedented scandal and constitutes a direct threat to the safety of all citizens.

"This is an unprecedented scandal – illegal weapons production in the heart of the Federation of BiH. A publicly funded institution is manufacturing drones without any permits, all under a contract with the Ministry of Defense [within the Council of Ministers]," Vulić stressed. She emphasized that the key question is: what is BiH arming itself for, who approved it, and for what purpose? "This is not technological advancement, but a serious violation of the law and a direct threat to the security of all citizens," said Vulić, who is also the head of the SNSD caucus in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly. If the institutions do not respond and no one is held accountable, she warned, then BiH no longer has functioning institutions but is facing a serious security crisis. "They mocked us, and the judiciary remained silent when we said that the life of the President of Republika Srpska was endangered in Sarajevo. Today, we can say with certainty that the life of any opponent of the Bosniak elite led by the `Troika` coalition is endangered," Vulić asserted. If the judiciary remains silent on these developments, Vulić warned that the next phase could involve the blockade of BiH Square during sessions of the Parliamentary Assembly and potentially the detainment of at least Serb MPs and delegates. Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers Staša Košarac stated earlier today that illegal production of weapons and dual-use equipment is taking place at the Center for Advanced Technologies in Sarajevo and that proceedings will be initiated against those responsible. Košarac said the center does not have a license to conduct such activities, yet six drones that can be used for various purposes have been manufactured. He stressed that the center is not registered for the production of weapons or related equipment.
