VASIĆ: HOPE THAT GOD’S JUSTICE WILL REACH THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LEDIĆI CRIME

TRNOVO, JUNE 3 /SRNA/ – The President of the Trnovo Citizens' Association "Moje Ognjište" Slavko Vasić, whose father, mother, and grandmother were killed in Ledići in the Trnovo municipality /Federation of BiH/ in 1992, expressed hope that God’s justice will eventually reach those responsible for this crime, adding that he has no trust in BiH’s judiciary due to its selective approach to war crimes.
Vasić said that the Serbs were very naive and trusted their Muslim neighbors, who committed a brutal crime against them in 1992. He recalled that the victims were the helpless – children, women, and the elderly – and emphasized that he cannot understand how someone could kill an 18-month-old child whose arms and legs were broken before being murdered. "My grandmother, who was killed here, was 92 years old. Everything that was Serbian and happened to be here was killed. Who were those people a threat to?" Vasić asked, adding that this crime must not go unpunished. The President of the Organization of Families of Captured and Killed Soldiers and Missing Civilians of Trnovo, Goran Timotija, stated that even after 33 years, no one has been held accountable for one of the gravest crimes committed in this area, in which children and the elderly were killed. "Unfortunately, the accused were acquitted in the first-instance verdict, even though all the names have long been known to the residents of Ledići. The judiciary has long been informed about who committed the crime, but they have not found it necessary to convict them," Timotija said. He added that no one has ever been held accountable for the 110 civilians killed and more than 130 soldiers of the Republika Srpska Army killed in the Trnovo area. A commemoration was held today in the village of Ledići, located in the Federation of BiH's Trnovo municipality, marking 33 years since the gruesome crime committed by members of the so-called Army of BiH against 24 Serb civilians, among whom was an 18-month-old child, Milun Tešanović. No one has been convicted for this crime.
