BIG WIN FOR SARA MIKAČA OVER TOP SEED AT ITF TOURNAMENT IN BANJA LUKA

BANJA LUKA, JUNE 3 /SRNA/ – The best female tennis player from Republika Srpska, Sara Mikača, defeated the top seed, American Jillian Adams, in the first round of the ITF tournament in Banja Luka with a score of 2:1.

The set scores were 6–3, 4–6, 6–4. Mikača is currently ranked 1277 on the WTA list, while the American holds the 557th position. Sara Mikača is the only representative from Republika Srpska on the global professional tennis rankings. She is a member of the “Mladost” Tennis Club in Banja Luka and entered the WTA rankings last year thanks to her strong performances. She also represented Republika Srpska at the BRICS Games in Kazan, where she and Anastasija Ignjatić finished in fourth place. The ITF tournament in Banja Luka features 32 players in the singles draw and 16 doubles teams. The total prize fund of the tournament is $15,000.
