DODIK: INITIATIVE ON REVIEWING MIGRANT ISSUE SUBMITTED TO NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

BANJA LUKA, JUNE 16 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik has stated today that he has submitted an initiative on reviewing migrant-related information to the National Assembly, so that Republika Srpska can adopt certain measures in response to announcements by the governments of the United Kingdom and some EU member states about relocating more than 50,000 migrants to BiH.
"This involves reviewing previous migration trends, particularly concerning migrants arriving from third countries. Especially after the UK and certain EU governments announced their plans, Republika Srpska must act preventively and adopt specific measures," Dodik emphasized. He noted that he proposed a series of conclusions, including that no decisions or agreements be accepted with third countries, especially EU member states, concerning any possibility of transporting or deporting migrants here who are to receive any kind of treatment or attention. "These include individuals who were denied asylum or those who, even if granted asylum, have since committed crimes. All of them would be part of this package. The plan is for over 50,000 migrants to be placed in BiH, which is unacceptable, as it threatens our daily lives and security," Dodik stressed. He highlighted the serious risk that these individuals could form connections with already present radical groups, such as Wahhabists and others operating in BiH, along with those who came from the battlefields in Syria. "After all, even the great Western powers failed to properly vet the backgrounds of these individuals at the time. They admitted them without any checks, and now they want to offload these potentially dangerous persons onto us, further destabilizing the situation here," Dodik told RTRS. He emphasized that it is therefore crucial for the National Assembly of Republika Srpska to examine the matter, adopt conclusions, and clearly express Srpska’s position. "That’s why I submitted this report, which contains significant information on the topic. It is an important issue. I am not calling for a special session, but I am requesting that it be given the highest priority within the regular agenda," Dodik concluded.
