RESERVE POLICE TO BE INTRODUCED

BANJA LUKA, JUNE 23 /SRNA/ - The Government of Republika Srpska has adopted a Bill on Amendments to the Law on Police and Internal Affairs under urgent procedure, which includes the introduction of a reserve police, Interior Minister Siniša Karan announced.

Speaking to reporters in Banja Luka, Karan said there is a need for more police officers in daily duties, especially during natural disasters. He noted that the Ministry of the Interior is currently short 1,019 officers. The Government also adopted a Bill on Amendments to the Law on Weapons and Ammunition under urgent procedure, proposing a new deadline for the legalization of firearms that citizens can acquire.
