ŠKOBO: SUFFERING OF SERBS IN THE 20TH CENTURY WARS WAS RESULT OF GENOCIDAL PROJECT

EAST SARAJEVO, JULY 18 /SRNA/ – The suffering of Serbs in the wars of the 20th century was the result of a genocidal project aimed at exterminating the Serbian people from the areas west of the Drina River, historian Lazar Škobo told SRNA.

EAST SARAJEVO, JULY 18 /SRNA/ – The suffering of Serbs in the wars of the 20th century was the result of a genocidal project aimed at exterminating the Serbian people from the areas west of the Drina River, historian Lazar Škobo told SRNA.

"The most atrocious segment of the mass extermination of our people was undoubtedly the killing of children. As is historically known, the darkest peak of this project is represented by the existence of the Jastrebarsko camp, which was the only camp intended exclusively for children in all of occupied Europe," Škobo stated on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance for the Murdered and Dead Children in the NDH. Škobo added that even in the last Defensive-Patriotic War, the targets of criminals were those who were supposed to be the future of the Serbian people. "How many future scientists, doctors, painters, and most importantly, future parents lost their lives under the attack of those who had no moral compass in their actions. Let us recall that in the village of Kravice alone, on Christmas Day in 1993, 49 Serbs were killed, the youngest victim being Vladimir Gajić, who was only four years old," Škobo pointed out. The Day of Remembrance for the Murdered and Dead Children in the NDH will be marked tomorrow in the hamlet of Macure in the Prijedor settlement of Gornji Jelovac. The commemoration of the Day of Remembrance for children killed during the genocide against Serbs, Jews, and Roma in the NDH from 1941 to 1945 is organized by the Government Committee of Republika Srpska for Nurturing the Traditions of Liberation Wars.
