GRAORAC: IT'S DISGRACEFUL THAT CRIMINALS WHO COMMITTED CRIMES AGAINST SERBS IN TRNOVO HAVE NOT BE JUSTLY PUNISHED

TRNOVO, JULY 30 /SRNA/ - The president of the Republika Srpska Organization of Families of Captured and Killed Soldiers and Missing Civilians Isidora Graorac stated that it is disgraceful that, even after 33 years, crimes against innocent civilians from Trnovo and soldiers of the Republika Srpska Army remain unpunished.
She also emphasized the importance of a culture of remembrance to ensure these crimes are never forgotten. "Either none of the perpetrators have been held accountable, or they received shamefully light and insignificant sentences," Graorac said after the commemoration of the Day of Suffering of the Serb People in Trnovo, marking the events on Margaret the Virgin 33 years ago. She emphasized that it is the responsibility of the descendants and those who experienced the tragedy of losing their closest family members to speak about these crimes so that they are never forgotten. Graorac stated that the public and the judiciary should be reminded daily of their obligation to prosecute war crimes committed against the Serb people. "The Hague Tribunal did not do its part of the job, and its decisions did not lead to reconciliation between the peoples of BiH. The Court and Prosecutor's Office of BiH have done nothing new and have continued the poor practice established by the Hague," Graorac emphasized. According to her, the 101 killed civilians and 130 fallen Serb fighters from Trnovo will never and must never be forgotten, as they laid down their lives in the foundation of Republika Srpska. Members of the Organization of Families of Captured and Killed Soldiers and Missing Civilians of Trnovo, in cooperation with the municipal administration, marked today the Day of Suffering of the Serb population in this municipality in the Defense Patriotic War. Members of the so-called Army of BiH committed the most heinous crimes against Serbs in the area of Trnovo, and even the children were not spared the murderous hand of criminals. The youngest civilian victim in the Trnovo area was 18 months old, and the oldest was 96. During the war from 1992 to 1995, 101 civilian victims were killed in Trnovo and surrounding villages, while 130 fighters from Trnovo laid down their lives defending their homes from the aggressor.
