WITH ITS DECISION ON GENERAL MLADIĆ, MECHANISM CONTINUES PRACTICE OF DISPARAGING

BANJA LUKA, JULY 31 /SRNA/ - The decision of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals to reject the request for the early release of General Ratko Mladić due to his poor health is yet another indication that the international community and the Tribunal are doing everything they can to destroy the reputation of the Serb people and the Army of Republika Srpska, and that the practice of disparaging continues, the Republika Srpska Veterans' Organization said in a statement.

The Republika Srpska Veterans' Organization /BORS/ noted that even at the time of General Mladić’s sentencing, one of the judges issued a dissenting opinion, but the court still rendered the ruling as it did. "Even today, when General Mladić's life is at risk and a request has been made for his release for medical treatment, they continue the established practice of disparagement, disrespect, and arbitrary rulings, clearly to portray a negative image of the Army of Republika Srpska and the Serb people," the statement reads. BORS points out that when it comes to other nations, this very same court has made numerous concessions and exceptions, whether related to verdicts, medical treatment requests, or similar matters. "The soldiers of the Republika Srpska Army remember their commander as he truly was - honorable, dignified, brave, and a great hero - and everything others are trying to do cannot change the position of his comrades," BORS stated. The International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals has rejected the urgent request filed by the former Chief of the General Staff of the Republika Srpska Army, General Ratko Mladić, for temporary or conditional early release due to his poor health.
