KOVAČEVIĆ: SOME WANT TO DECIDE WITHOUT US - THAT IS WHY A REFERENDUM IN SRPSKA IS ESSENTIAL

BANJA LUKA, AVGUST 8 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska makes its own decisions, and they will not be made by its enemies, that is why it is essential to hold a referendum where the free, democratic, and political people of Srpska will decide on their own destiny and future, said Radovan Kovačević, Serb delegate in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.
Kovačević stressed that only the people of Republika Srpska elect the president, and reminded that they have already done so by voting for Milorad Dodik. "Some are trying to make decisions on our behalf. The people of Republika Srpska elected Milorad Dodik as president in a free and democratic election, and only the people of Republika Srpska can decide whether he should remain in that position," Kovačević emphasized. He said that this is precisely why it is important to proceed with a referendum in Republika Srpska, where its people will decide on their destiny and future. "We will be deciding whether we have a future or not. Those who believe our future lies in convicting the president in the name of all of us are the ones choosing a future without Republika Srpska. We will not stand with them, we will stand with Republika Srpska. Let others choose their own side," Kovačević told RTRS, who also serves as spokesperson for the SNSD. According to him, one is either for Republika Srpska and the right of the Serb people to decide, or against it, which means supporting its enemies. Kovačević added that, if divisions must be made, then let them be between those who believe Republika Srpska should make its own decisions, and those who are against Republika Srpska and would take away that right. Commenting on the statements from opposition politicians, he said nuances don't matter. "Whether they say they would never support a government of national unity, or that they wouldn't support a referendum, or that they would participate in elections if called by the CEC, or maybe wouldn't unless they had to, none of it matters. Nothing has to be done. What must be done is what Republika Srpska decides!" Kovačević concluded.
