MAJDOV ACADEMY – THE MOST SUCCESSFUL SPORTS EVENT IN BiH AND REGION

EAST SARAJEVO, AUGUST 12 /SRNA/ – This year’s judo camp Majdov Academy is the most successful sports event so far in BiH and the region, the organizer and celebrated Serb judoka Nemanja Majdov said in a statement to SRNA today.

“This is the best Majdov Academy so far. We had participants from 23 countries across three continents, more than 860 competitors plus parents, which means that more than 1,500 people stayed in Lukavica, East Sarajevo. This is certainly one of the biggest sports events in BiH this year,” said Majdov. Majdov thanked the President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, who was the camp’s general patron, because, as he said, he leads a genuine fight for Srpska and the Serb people. He also stressed that he is extremely proud of the camp’s results, as well as of the support received from the global judo community. “With us was Tato Grigalashvili from Georgia, three-time world champion and Olympic silver medalist. Catarina Costa from Portugal, three-time European vice-champion and fifth at the Olympics. Three Olympians from Great Britain who came with 48 judokas. The fact alone that someone brings 50 people with plane tickets to this city is certainly a good sign that we are doing things well,” Majdov stated. Majdov emphasized that he is already receiving numerous inquiries about whether the camp will be organized next year, noting that it will be, again in August. Stefan Majdov, one of the organizers of the judo camp, said that this year’s edition of the Academy was rated as highly successful and that the most important result is that the children and guests left with smiles on their faces and full of positive impressions. “According to the comments of people who visited and participated in this academy, everyone was satisfied, they left with smiles on their faces, and took with them the most beautiful impressions from East Sarajevo and Republika Srpska. We showed ourselves to be good hosts,” Majdov emphasized. He said he was particularly touched by the message from a coach from Kosovo and Metohija, who said that their children are taking home the most beautiful emotions from this city. Majdov pointed out that in addition to sports activities, the Academy also offered a range of educational content, with professional training in two groups, four times a day. According to him, panel discussions were also organized, with the participation of people outside the judo world, giving them an opportunity to talk with the camp’s stars. He recalled that President Dodik was the Academy’s general patron, which enabled free participation for all children from Republika Srpska under the age of 15. The judo camp Majdov Academy was held from August 8 to 10 as part of the Summer in East Novo Sarajevo event.
