DODIK: BY THE END OF NEXT YEAR, THE AVERAGE SALARY WILL BE €1,000

BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 24 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik stated that he aims for the average salary in Srpska to reach €1,000 by the end of next year, which he views as a measure of his success.

“We will increase the minimum wage for the first category from BAM 900 to BAM 1,100 from the New Year, regardless of the circumstances. The second category will go from BAM 1,200 to BAM 1,400, i.e., for highly qualified personnel,” Dodik told RTRS. He added that it has been shown that measures to increase the minimum wage lead to improvements in the economy. “We will consult employers again, but we believe that society cannot be built on cheap, unpaid labor; that is demoralizing,” Dodik stated.
