LAVROV: I CONSIDER REFERENDUM IN SRPSKA TO BE FAIR
MOSCOW, SEPTEMBER 9 /SRNA/ - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov said today that he considers the referendum that will be held on October 25 in Republika Srpska to be fair, and emphasized that modern Europe is returning to the ideology of Nazism and does not like referendums because it does not want to hear the voice of the people.
"I consider the referendum planned by Republika Srpska and its President Milorad Dodik on October 25 to be fair. They declared the independence of Kosovo without a referendum, they did not recognize the referendum in Crimea, which was transparent. The West does not want to hear the voice of the people," Lavrov said at a press conference with President Dodik. According to him, at the referendum, the voice of the people is heard, and the people can express their position on how politicians work, and that is an honest and dignified politician in modern times and a brave and upright man. When asked by a SRNA journalist about the redistribution of the sphere of influence and how it can be reflected in the Balkans, Lavrov replied that this is more about the process of establishing multipolarity. He recalled that, in history, spheres of influence were divided through the use of military force. "The countries that dealt with those divisions, as a rule, had good economic remarks, because in some parts of the world they were leaders in economic development," the Russian top diplomat said. He stated that the process of established multipolarity is being conducted and that it does not mean that someone is trying to seize some zone where they would have influence by force. "There are relapses, but objectively the basic process of multipolarity is a natural process through accelerated economic development, solving social issues, through the development of science and technology. Countries are emerging as leaders in the field of economy and finance, and with that comes political influence as well," Lavrov said. He pointed out that the member states of BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization /SOC/ are the new centers of development and influence in the modern world. "It is useful for some countries to join the natural process of forming economic and technological independence, and the most important thing is that it is associated with the processes of developing equal cooperation," Lavrov said. He explained that influence in the world is changing, and the basis of that distribution of influence that exists now are natural, objective processes of development. "We see how the problems of ordinary people in China, India and other member countries of BRICS and SOC are solved. The opinion of the people becomes decisive according to those indicators, and not according to the context of certain election campaigns in Western countries," stated the Russian top diplomat. He pointed out that most European countries artificially insert topics that distract people from real topics and they try to push aside the obvious decline in the well-being of voters. "When /President of Ukraine Volodymyr/ Zelenskyy works to exterminate the Russian language, culture, to prohibit of the Russian Orthodox Church, it does not bother anyone. They interpret it as a defense of European values and get recognition for it," he pointed out.
