VULIĆ: DESTRUCTION OF ORTHODOX CEMETERIES - AN ATTEMPT TO ERASE SERBIAN IDENTITY

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, SEPTEMBER 12 /SRNA/ - The destruction of Orthodox cemeteries in the Federation of BiH /FBiH/ is not just an attack on the dead, but an attempt to erase the Serbian identity, Sanja Vulić, the Head of the SNSD Caucus in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, told SRNA.

Vulić said that political Sarajevo and certain international representatives claim that Christians are not being persecuted and that there is room for everyone, but it is clear that both the living and the dead Serbs bother them throughout BiH. "They will not succeed; Serbian heritage and memory remain indestructible," Vulić said, commenting on the destruction of 60 Orthodox tombstones in the village of Pečuj near Zenica. She described the destruction of the Orthodox tombstones in Pečuj as unprecedented and unacceptable. The president of the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Serbs in the Federation of BiH Đorđe Radanović told SRNA that he was informed about the destruction of tombstones by a priest, and that the photographs published by SRNA show that the vandalism involved the use of physical force. "The problem is that the cemetery is only two kilometers from downtown Zenica, where the police have access, yet no one noticed anything except Father Maleš," Radanović said.
