IN SERB VILLAGE NEAR METKOVIĆ, THREATENING MESSAGES 'KILL A SERB' AND 'ZDS'

METKOVIĆ, SEPTEMBER 18 /SRNA/ – In the village of Glušci near Metković, inhabited exclusively by Serbs, messages of hatred 'Kill a Serb' and 'ZDS' (abbreviation of the Ustashas salute 'Za dom spremni!') were written on the asphalt and on the village sign, the villagers confirmed to SRNA.

"Around 11:30 last night, an unknown car drove through the village, and on its way back they started shouting 'Kill a Serb'. After that, we also saw messages of hatred written on the asphalt, as well as on the village sign," said one of the villagers of Glušci. The police arrived at the scene today and carried out an investigation. The villagers say they usually have no problems, but this incident caused unrest and fear. Such messages take on an even more horrific dimension considering they appeared on the eve of the 81st anniversary of the brutal crime committed in Glušci. On September 25, 1944, the Ustashas surrounded the village, captured 90 residents – children, women, and the elderly – and took them to be killed in the Ustashas concentration camp in Jasenovac. The youngest Ustashas' victim was less than a year old, and the oldest 90 years. After that tragedy, around forty residents remained in the village.
