STEVANDIĆ: PRESENCE OF DESCENDANTS OF RESCUED PILOTS RECTIFIES HISTORICAL INJUSTICE

DOBOJ, SEPTEMBER 21 /SRNA/ - The Speaker of the Republika Srpska National Assembly, Nenad Stevandić, said he is pleased that descendants of the rescued pilots are attending the commemoration of the 81st anniversary of the Halyard operation in Boljanić near Doboj, and that a historical injustice, the absence of American representatives in previous years, is being corrected.

Stevandić told reporters that, unfortunately, the administration of Joseph Biden previously cooperated with the descendants of those who had killed American pilots and imposed sanctions on those who had rescued them. "We have now begun to significantly correct this injustice and to celebrate anti-fascism and heroism, which belong to all the peoples who were on the right side of history at that time," Stevandić said. He expressed hope that these peoples will continue to cooperate in the future. Today, Boljanić near Doboj commemorates the 81st anniversary of the rescue of Allied pilots from Mount Ozren during the Halyard operation, carried out by members of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland under the command of General Draža Mihailović.
