BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 22 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Minister of Education and Culture Borivoje Golubović attended the ceremonial opening of the manifestation Year of Hungarian-Serb Culture in Szentendre today, stressing that the event will give artists from Serbia, Hungary, and Srpska an opportunity to present the achievements of both nations in this field.

Golubović said he was honored to be invited to this important event held at the Museum of the Serbian Orthodox Church. "Culture, for both Serbs and Hungarians, together with Christian faith, forms the foundation of identity. Serbs and Hungarians are neighboring peoples who, in addition to excellent political relations, are also distinguished by their aspiration to present themselves to each other culturally and spiritually, to meet, to accept one another, as friends, as neighbors, for future generations," Golubović stated. He emphasized that he is aware of the commitment of Hungary, its government, and its people to preserving the identity of the Serb community in that country, the Ministry announced. "We are grateful for the assistance and understanding directed toward the Serb community in Hungary, as well as for the commitment to apply the same approach to the Serb people in the region, for which we are especially thankful," Golubović said. As part of his official visit to Hungary, Golubović held talks with Hungarian Minister of Culture and Innovation Balázs Hankó, Serbian Minister of Culture Nikola Selaković, and His Eminence Lukijan, Metropolitan of Buda.
