STEVANDIĆ: SUPPORT FOR KARAN, SARAJEVO AND FOREIGN ACTORS HAVE OVERPLAYED THEIR HAND

BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 6 /SRNA/ – The President of United Srpska Nenad Stevandić said that the parties of the ruling coalition in Republika Srpska today signed an agreement to support the SNSD candidate for President of Srpska in the early presidential elections, Siniša Karan, and stressed that representatives of political Sarajevo and some foreign actors overplayed their hand by calling the early elections.

Stevandić emphasized that Karan is a figure about whom there are very few public complaints in Republika Srpska. "As for his personal qualities, there’s no need to speak about them," Stevandić said at a press conference in Banja Luka following the meeting of the leaders of the parties forming the ruling coalition. He also said that representatives of political Sarajevo and foreign actors, led by certain embassies in BiH and the unelected High Representative Christian Schmidt, overplayed their hand when calling the elections. "They thought we wouldn’t participate. They assumed they could easily deal with us, and now they are trying to backtrack after seeing how serious we are about preventing any fissures in Republika Srpska," Stevandić stated.
