KARAN: PEOPLE’S DECISION WILL BE REAFFIRMED

BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 6 /SRNA/ – SNSD candidate for President of Republika Srpska Siniša Karan has stated today in Banja Luka that, in a different way, the upcoming elections will reaffirm the people’s decision on the choice of President of Srpska, stressing that the will of the people is above all.

"We are fighting against those who have undermined the sacred principle known as the will of the people. The people’s will is above all and is sovereign everywhere in the world. Unfortunately, here the rule of law, legality, and constitutionality have been overthrown by an illegal foreigner," Karan said at a press conference following a meeting of the ruling coalition parties that endorsed his candidacy. He noted that he feels both great honor and pride, as well as sadness and melancholy. "I feel honor and pride because I was proposed by the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik. He entrusted me to be the candidate on behalf of the largest political party," Karan said. He added that the support for statehood gives him the strength and honor to stand before the citizens of Republika Srpska. "The citizens—75 percent of them—gave plebiscitary support for the statehood of Republika Srpska. At the same time, I feel sad and melancholic because Republika Srpska once again has to elect a president, even though we already have one. We won this mandate and have the decision of the people of Srpska and all its citizens," Karan said. Karan emphasized the importance of resisting a foreign usurper who has destroyed what is the greatest sacred principle in any state: the will of the people. "No one can overthrow the will of the people; the people’s will is above all. It is the only sovereign will in today’s democratic world. This usurper, long rejected by all modern states 300 years ago, has appeared here and destroyed everything for us. He destroyed the democratic elections on which the constitution of this unfortunate state rests. He has undermined the rule of law, legality, and constitutionality, and is attempting to overthrow our institutions—our president," Karan said. He stressed that a people without a state has nothing, as they have no freedom. "That is why they are destroying the institutions of Republika Srpska, and the Serb people will not allow it," Karan said, expressing gratitude to the presidents of the ruling coalition parties for the trust they placed in him.
