MEDICAL FACULTY IN FOČA AMONG THE BEST IN ALL SERB LANDS

FOČA, OCTOBER 14 /SRNA/ – The Minister of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, Željko Budimir, has stated today in Foča that the Medical Faculty in this town is one of the higher education institutions he is most proud of and serves as an example for the entire higher education system in Srpska.

"If there is one higher education institution in BiH, and especially in Republika Srpska, that I am proud of and consider my own, even though I am not from this field, it is the Medical Faculty in Foča," said Budimir, who attended the ceremony marking the Day and the 32nd anniversary of this institution. Budimir emphasized that the entire higher education system in Republika Srpska can look up to this faculty and the people who work there. "I have never encountered anything like this. I have close ties with the University of Belgrade, where I earned my academic titles, and I personally believe that this is one of the best medical faculties across all Serb lands. This faculty is made up of people who have accomplished the impossible. Every time I’ve come here, even in August, even at odd hours, the faculty was alive," said Budimir, who previously served as Minister for Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of Republika Srpska. He noted that all faculties, regardless of their scientific fields, can take inspiration from the people working at this institution. "I once read that there are three ancient archetypes: the teacher, the priest, and the warrior. These are callings that require people to give their utmost. That’s exactly what these people are — when you come here, you can see how they work with their doctoral candidates, postgraduates, and foreign students," Budimir stressed. According to him, the people working at the Medical Faculty in Foča do all this in a place that does not have the same social or cultural dynamism as larger cities simply because it is not big enough to allow for it. Budimir stressed that Foča lives thanks to the Medical and Theological faculties, which make the town unique. "Thanks to this faculty, we also have the University Hospital, which makes possible the kind of work being done here. I recently read about their achievements in treating certain injuries and the innovative methods they use — all of that is the work of professors at this institution," Budimir underscored. According to him, the Medical Faculty in Foča reflects what Republika Srpska has achieved over the past 30 years, above all, through its people, its experts, and this very place, which has already become special. "When the international accreditation process was being carried out, I knew some of the people involved, and they told me abroad that they had never seen anything like it. In the most positive sense — they were truly impressed," Budimir said.
