SRPSKA HAS RESPONSIBLE STATE POLICY

BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 16 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska has pursued a responsible state policy consistently, and had it not resisted international interventionism, it would have been stripped of its powers today, the President of Srpska Milorad Dodik emphasized.
Dodik explained that if Srpska had remained passive and failed to oppose international interventionism, it would now be facing an imposed decision on state property under which it would have been completely dispossessed – something it could have never regained. "Nevertheless, I decided that we must fight for Republika Srpska. The first thing we managed to achieve was the strong internationalization of the `Dodik case`. There is not a single institution in the world that hasn't learned that, for the first time in 300 years in Europe, a foreigner issued a decree under which a legally elected president was convicted," Dodik told Večernje Novosti. He added that a great deal of effort is currently being invested in maintaining that internationalization and in achieving important goals by the New Year. Dodik described Christian Schmidt as a miserable man who will soon become "nothing more than a useful idiot," adding that many of Schmidt's blunders remain to be corrected. "A lot of people in Europe admit these mistakes," Dodik said. Speaking about the trial conducted against him before the Court of BiH, Dodik said that Schmidt had formed a working group and adopted a document that was supposed to be proclaimed, related to property issues, which triggered the political struggle. "It included the position that if such a decision were adopted, Republika Srpska would declare independence. When they realized we were ready to do that, they devised a plan to undermine Dodik's authority and that of Republika Srpska," Dodik explained, adding that the then US administration supported those efforts. He reiterated that the Muslims wanted to deal with both him and Republika Srpska and were prepared to do so by any means, but said he could not understand the behavior of certain Serbs — particularly how a Serb, as chief prosecutor, allowed it, even though it was against the law and the Constitution. When asked whether he had been offered a deal before the verdict was delivered, Dodik said there had been offers from various sides, but not directly to him, since everyone knew he would reject them. He said he had never found himself in a position to question his own decisions or wonder whether things could have been done differently. "When I considered what to do, I decided this was the only right path," Dodik stated.
