ONE HOUSE OF PARLIAMENT CANNOT ESTABLISH INSTITUTION OF CHIEF NEGOTIATOR

SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 16 /SRNA/ - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers Staša Košarac told SRNA that the initiative for the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly to appoint BiH’s chief negotiator with the EU is yet another example of Sarajevo’s deceit, as evidenced by the manner in which members of the BiH Central Election Commission were selected, as well as by many other cases.

Košarac said that this initiative is not in line with the Stabilization and Association Agreement. He recalled that the basic political agreement was that the chief negotiator should be a Serb from Republika Srpska, to be nominated by the SNSD, given that the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers, Borjana Krišto, is a Croat, and that the Minister of Foreign Affairs is a Bosniak. "That agreement was also supported by the `Troika`. But, as usual, the `Trojka` has once again changed its position — one thing in the morning, another in the afternoon," said Košarac. He emphasized that the "Troika" is currently disoriented and is putting forward unrealistic proposals that strip the Council of Ministers of its authority through a decision made by only one House of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly. He described this as absurd. "They are trying to establish the institution of the chief negotiator through a decision of only one House of the BiH Parliament. That is neither constitutional nor lawful. We have recognized Sarajevo’s deceit, and we will not fall for it," Košarac said.
