MAZALICA: THE GOAL IS TO PRESERVE STABILITY
BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 18 /SRNA/ - The adoption of the Draft Law on the Termination of Validity of Certain Laws will mark the beginning of creating relations in BiH based on internal and international dialogue, as well as respect for the letter of the Dayton Peace Agreement, the two entities, three constituent peoples, and consensus, stated Srđan Mazalica, head of the SNSD parliamentary group in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska.
"Given Republika Srpska's efforts to preserve stability and ensure respect for the constitutional order of Srpska and BiH, it is in the general interest of Republika Srpska that this law be adopted under an urgent procedure," Mazalica said while presenting the draft law in the Assembly. He pointed out that Republika Srpska has continuously pursued responsible domestic and international political processes, and that the laws previously adopted were Srpska's response to legal coercion and the erosion of the agreed-upon Dayton Peace Agreement. Mazalica emphasized that Srpska is ready for compromise and that the adoption of this law will not cause harm to Srpska. "This is not a matter of political bargaining to gain something in return. It is openly stated that Christian Schmidt must leave BiH. Once BiH is rid of foreign judges in the Constitutional Court and of Christian Schmidt himself, many key problems for Srpska will disappear," Mazalica added. The proposed law stipulates the termination of the following legal acts: the Law on Immovable Property Used for the Functioning of Public Authority, the Law on Non-Implementation of the Decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH, the Election Law of Republika Srpska, the Law on Non-Implementation of Laws and the Prohibition of Operation of Unconstitutional BiH Institutions, the Law on Amendments to the Criminal Code of Republika Srpska, and the Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Republika Srpska. A conclusion was also proposed to repeal the conclusions related to the information on the erosion of the legal order in BiH through the violation of the Dayton Peace Agreement, adopted on December 25 of last year. Ognjen Bodiroga, head of the SDS parliamentary group in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, said that the SDS will not agree to anything that goes beyond the framework of the Dayton Peace Agreement. "We have warned that we would reach a point where we are forced to backtrack. The Constitutional Court of BiH is one of the pillars of the BiH Constitution, even though some of its decisions have been biased, which is why we supported the Law on Non-Implementation of its Decisions," Bodiroga said.
