HLA TISSUE TYPING LABORATORY OPENED

BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 21 /SRNA/ – A HLA tissue typing laboratory was officially opened today at the Transfusion Medicine Institute of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka, in the presence of President Milorad Dodik.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Savo Minić, Minister of Health and Social Welfare Alen Šeranić, Minister of Energy and Mining Petar Đokić, and Minister of Trade and Tourism Denis Šulić. This laboratory is of great importance for improving organ donation programmes, as well as for the development of other healthcare services in Republika Srpska. The laboratory is a basic requirement for transplant procedures, and it will also be used for the diagnosis of certain diseases. The establishment of this laboratory was a project initiated during the charity event "To Brave Hearts, With Love," held in December 2023 at the initiative of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik. On that occasion, thanks to the generosity of the citizens of Republika Srpska, institutions, and organisations, BAM 810,000 was raised, while the Government of Serbia donated one million Euros.
