CVIJANOVIĆ: LEGAL FOUNDATION OF SRPSKA LAID ON OCTOBER 24, 1991

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 24 /SRNA/ - The Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović emphasized that the founding of the Assembly of the Serb People in BiH represents one of the most significant dates in contemporary Serbian history, the day when the legal foundation of Republika Srpska was laid.

"Thanks to the courage and unity of Serb MPs, the Assembly of the Serb People in BiH was established out of the need to preserve the constitutionality, equality, and survival of the Serb people in their ancestral homes," Cvijanović said, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Assembly’s founding on this day in 1991. She emphasized that the National Assembly of Republika Srpska still stands as the strongest defender of Srpska's vital national interests, property, and institutions, as well as the place where its future is defended. "Confident that this will remain the case in the period ahead, I extend my congratulations to the Speaker of the National Assembly, all current and former MPs, and our citizens on the 34th anniversary of the establishment and work of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska," Cvijanović said in her congratulatory message.
