STEVANDIĆ: THE HOUSE OF REPUBLIKA SRPSKA - A PLACE WHERE THE FUTURE WAS SHAPED
PALE, OCTOBER 25 /SRNA/ - Speaker of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska Nenad Stevandić stated in Pale, at the unveiling of the monument dedicated to the founders and defenders of Republika Srpska in front of the House of Republika Srpska, that this site was the place where ideas were born, maps were drawn, and the future of Republika Srpska was written under uncertain and nearly impossible historical circumstances.
"It was achieved by the deputies of the first Assembly - part heroes, part victims, part martyrs - sometimes honored, sometimes not. They built the architecture and the foundation of our future," Stevandić said. He emphasized that Republika Srpska has already repaid everyone through its very existence, but that future generations must continue to show gratitude. "We do not forget; we teach our children. Only if we prove worthy of her will she repay our grandchildren," Stevandić noted. According to him, all those who set out on that uncertain journey, surrounded by enemies in those difficult historical times, will one day be buried in their own land - in their own Republika Srpska. "In this place, in this small House, I took my first steps in learning dignity, pride, and courage. I can only hope that I will continue coming here in ten, twenty years," Stevandić said. He warned that disrespect is a signal to the enemy, and discord an invitation to attack. "Disrespect is sometimes stronger than national dignity. We must fight to overcome it and to respect one another even when we disagree. Disrespect is the father of every enemy, and disunity the mother of every lost battle and of every wrongdoer who turns against us," Stevandić stressed. He added that Serbs must restore faith in mutual respect and unity and move forward together. "We must believe that we are experienced and capable enough to find balance - to ensure that no political, international, or military shackles ever bind us again - and that we will have achievements to be proud of in the future," Stevandić concluded.
