AMIDŽIĆ: ECONOMIC ACTIVITY SHIFTING FROM THE EU TO OTHER REGIONS

BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 28 /SRNA/ – The Minister of Finance and Treasury in the Council of Ministers Srđan Amidžić says Republika Srpska is economically tied to the European Union in many ways but emphasized that new global economic trends, such as the growth of BRICS member states, must also be acknowledged.

Amidžić told the press in Banja Luka ahead of the opening of the Regional Trade Summit, that determining how to position oneself within these global movements is not just a matter for Republika Srpska but for every serious state. "When we talk about the group of countries that make up BRICS and the way they approach their challenges, it is absolutely evident that economic activity is shifting toward other regions," Amidžić assessed. He stresses that every serious country, including Republika Srpska, must pay attention to such trends and understand the geopolitical position which it operates within. Amidžić thanked the organisers for designing an agenda that raises key questions about development and the independence of a society, with a special focus on energy and energy sovereignty for every community. "On the other hand, all decision-makers in Republika Srpska, as well as we in the joint institutions of BiH, will be able to define certain directions and, based on that, possibly make future decisions," Amidžić said. The two-day Regional Trade Summit, the first international trade event organised in Republika Srpska, began today in Banja Luka. In addition to Amidžić, attendees include Republika Srpska National Assembly Nenad Stevandić, Prime Minister Savo Minić, ministers from the Government of Srpska, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers Staša Košarac, State Secretary of the Serbia's Ministry of Foreign and Internal Trade Luka Stojanović, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Levente Magyar. Organisers noted that the Summit is the first event bringing together business leaders, policymakers, and innovators from across the Balkans with the goal of shaping the future of trade and regional cooperation.
