ĐOKIĆ: SIGN OF RENEWED DIALOGUE AND UNDERSTANDING IN GLOBAL RELATIONS
BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 29 /SRNA/ – The Minister of Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska Petar Đokić said that the lifting of American sanctions against the leadership of Srpska is a signal that dialogue and understanding are returning to international affairs.
Đokić stated that this move by US President Donald Trump's administration confirms what he has long been emphasizing — that the sanctions imposed by the previous administration were unfounded, politically motivated, and contrary to the principles of justice and international law. He has stressed that he will continue to work responsibly, transparently and in the interest of citizens. "We have been freed from a major obstacle, but new challenges lie ahead, economic development, stability, and preservation of the political subjectivity of Republika Srpska within the framework of the Dayton Agreement," Đokić said in a written statement, thanking all those who believed in his consistency, lawfulness, and commitment to interests of Republika Srpska. He underscored that this decision further motivates him to continue on the path of cooperation, as well as the determined defense of the rights of the Serb people. "The sanctions were an injustice; their removal is a step toward correcting that injustice," Đokić said. The US Department of the Treasury has lifted sanctions imposed on the President Milorad Dodik, the Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović, Speaker of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska Nenad Stevandić, as well as other individuals and companies sanctioned under the previous US administration.
