STEVANOVIĆ: REORGANISATION OF RAILWAYS REQUIRED

BANJA LUKA, 31 OCTOBER /SRNA/ – The Minister of Transport and Communications of Republika Srpska, Zoran Stevanović, told SRNA that additional reorganisation of the Railways is required, but this does not imply the cessation of passenger traffic; rather, it is about finding a model that would make the company sustainable.

"By the end of this year, a thematic session of the Republika Srpska Government will be held. We need to think in several directions," Stevanović said in SRNA podcast. Speaking about road transport projects, Stevanović emphasized that the priority is the construction of the Banja Luka–Belgrade motorway, and that the section from Rača to the Brodac interchange, eight kilometers long, should be completed by September next year. "After September next year, within another year, the entire Rača–Bijeljina motorway section should be completed. During that time, we will work on the Bijeljina–Brčko and Brčko–Vukosavlje sections. It used to be unthinkable to connect Banja Luka and Belgrade by motorway, but Republika Srpska is working intensively," Stevanović emphasized. In the new episode of the podcast, Stevanović also talks about the construction of the Banja Luka–Prijedor motorway, reasons for the increase in construction costs, road infrastructure in Herzegovina, and the need for public sector reforms. The podcast, featuring the Minister of Transport and Communications of Republika Srpska Zoran Stevanović will be available to users of our service tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. on the YouTube channel and social media.
