BREAST CENTER OPENED AT THE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
FOČA, NOVEMBER 2 /SRNA/ - A Breast Center was opened today at the University Hospital in Foča, which will provide numerous advantages in diagnostics and treatment.
The Center was officially opened by Minister of Health and Social Protection Alen Šeranić and Director of the University Hospital Foča Nenad Lalović. Šeranić said that the Breast Center is not merely another outpatient clinic, but a facility that will offer a wide range of services - from radiology and pathology to hospitalization and patient care. He emphasized that this is a very important project that serves as a roadmap for the future of healthcare development in Republika Srpska. Lalović stated that the Breast Center is a new department within the Surgery Clinic, where patients from across Republika Srpska and beyond will be able to receive treatment in line with the world's most advanced standards. Šeranić and Lalović toured the new center's premises, noting that its opening will significantly improve existing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for breast cancer treatment. As highlighted today, the new center will enhance both breast cancer detection and therapeutic options for patients. Oncologists emphasized their commitment to providing patients with access to the latest trends and innovations in breast cancer treatment. The Breast Center previously received a state-of-the-art mammography unit with tomosynthesis, donated by "Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske," which allocated BAM 300,000 for this purpose. An additional BAM 200,000 is needed to purchase equipment for detecting lymph nodes affected by malignancy, which will further advance treatment outcomes. This refers to an ICG camera, which will enable more precise surgical procedures for breast cancer patients. With the acquisition of this device and the planned purchase of an MRI machine next year, comprehensive diagnostics and therapy will be available at the University Medical Center in Foča - a major step forward not only for the hospital and the local community, but for the entire region.
