SERB MAJORITY IN HOUSE OF PEOPLES WANTS ONLY SOVEREIGN AND CONSTITUTIONAL DECISION-MAKING
SARAJEVO, NOVEMBER 7 /SRNA/ – Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH Nikola Špirić stated that the majority in the Serb Caucus seeks sovereign decision-making in accordance with the Constitution, not a protectorate, and that their response to Bosniak attempts to unitarize BiH and to call for Christian Schmidt to rule in place of legally elected representatives will always be constitutional and in line with parliamentary procedure.
"The constitutional and procedural majority of Serbs in the Serb Caucus does nothing that isn’t also allowed to others. In accordance with the Dayton Peace Agreement and the Constitution of BiH, we are simply protecting the interests of Republika Srpska and the Serb people, and we have firmly committed ourselves to defending the will of the Serb people as expressed in the 2022 elections", Špirić told SRNA. He added that this majority of Serb delegates represents a bulwark against the process of unitarization that the Bosniaks and political Sarajevo are pursuing at all costs. "When it comes to the European path, they are acting as stowaways on the ship to Brussels, trying to bring along the opposition from Republika Srpska while inviting the High Representative to steer the ship, failing to realize that the vessel has already run aground due to their constant attacks on the institutional and overall stability of Srpska", Špirić emphasized. According to him, the response of the Serb majority in the House of Peoples to such actions will always remain constitutional and procedural. "We want sovereign decision-making in accordance with the Constitution, not a protectorate, and that’s why we are keeping the door to dialogue wide open", Špirić stated. He noted that while the world is witnessing dramatic global changes, political Sarajevo is not only asleep but also calling on Christian Schmidt to govern BiH instead of its legally elected representatives. "We will not accept that", Špirić stressed. Minister of Defense in the Council of Ministers Zukan Helez and SDA’s Šefik Džaferović yesterday called on Schmidt "not to be afraid" and to "act in accordance with Dayton", citing what they described as anti-state and anti-Dayton activities by SNSD and HDZ BiH representatives and delegates in the BiH Parliament.
