STANARI THERMAL POWER PLANT AMONG THE MOST PROFITABLE IN REGION
STANARI, NOVEMBER 9 /SRNA/ – The Elektrane/Power Plants company in Stanari is one of the most profitable and modernly managed thermal power plants in the region, said the SNSD leader Milorad Dodik.
Dodik noted that this is the largest investment in this sector in the territory of the former Yugoslavia and said he was honoured that the company’s owners had the courage, during unstable times, to make an important business decision that resulted in today’s successful energy enterprise. “They are a national asset for Republika Srpska because they are working to ensure economic stability,” Dodik told the press after a meeting with the company’s management, which was also attended by the Minister of Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education, Siniša Karan. According to him, the company has revitalized the local area, its production is organised and stable, and it also invests in the community. He emphasized the importance of achieving success in building such a complex project, which Republika Srpska also participated in. “They didn’t stop there, they built the Ulog Hydropower Plant with a capacity of 35 megawatts and a solar power plant near Bileća with 60 megawatts,” Dodik added. He said that during the talks he learned that energy demand is increasing and will become even more pronounced in the future. Dodik thanked the management and announced that efforts will be made to award the project’s key contributors with the highest republican honours. Minister Karan said that this excellent company is proof of the direction in which education and technological innovation should be guided. “Such companies cannot function without young, well-educated people with digital skills,” Karan stated. He added that it is necessary to foster an entrepreneurial spirit among them, as it is precisely such people, in cooperation with investors and industry, who create successful enterprises like this one. The director of “Elektrane,” Aleksandar Milić, said that for 10 years the company has managed to operate and stay in the area with the support of the Republika Srpska Government. The company employs 1,200 people, mostly from Stanari and the Doboj region, and plans to remain and expand its operations in the long term. Annual production amounts to about two million megawatt-hours, with yearly investments measured in tens of millions of Euros. “This year was somewhat stronger, with investments reaching up to 100 million Euros in production capacity, equipment, machinery, and everything necessary for the process, from coal mining to power generation,” Milić said.
