MINIĆ: ADVOCATING FOR ORIGINAL DAYTON AND CONSTITUTIONAL BiH

BANJA LUKA, NOVEMBER 19 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Prime Minister, Savo Minić, says the Republika Srpska authorities advocate for the original form of the Dayton Peace Agreement and a constitutional BiH, pointing out that this agreement has never been in a worse legal position than on its 30th anniversary, given its constant and forceful amendments.

He emphasizes that Republika Srpska always adopts its acts in accordance with the Dayton Peace Agreement, also protecting the Constitution of BiH. "Then someone accuses us of undermining it? I state responsibly that absolutely no one in Srpska wants to violate the Dayton or see that agreement collapse. But, considering the violations it has suffered over the past three decades, this agreement now stands on very shaky legs and is no longer the original act," Minić said. He noted that the Dayton Peace Agreement, as a peace treaty, has its guarantors to ensure its consistent implementation. "We expect that all those who committed to protecting the Dayton must point out that this agreement has been violated. In this sense, there are in BiH numerous institutions whose existence is not envisioned by the Dayton and which now serve those who undermine its fundamental principles. Therefore, I can say that the Dayton has never been in a worse legal state than it is now, on its 30th anniversary," Minić stated. The General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH, better known as the Dayton Peace Agreement, was negotiated on November 21, 1995, at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton in the U.S. state of Ohio, and officially signed on December 14 of the same year in Paris.
