KRIŠTO: POLITICKING OVERPOWERED PUBLIC INTEREST

SARAJEVO, DECEMBER 10 /SRNA/ - The Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers, Borjana Krišto, stated that politicking overpowered the public interest in the case of the new Gradiška border crossing, whose opening was blocked by a decision of ITA BiH Management Board member Zijad Krnjić.

Krišto assessed that this has caused significant damage to BiH’s international reputation and halted a process that would have brought visible economic benefits to the country, the Chairwoman’s office said in a press release. She emphasized that the new Gradiška border crossing is an international corridor for the transport of passengers and goods and a project of strategic importance. “Opening this crossing would provide businesses in BiH with faster and more favorable access to trans-European transit routes, strengthen competitiveness, and attract new investments,” Krišto said. She pointed out that it is necessary to adopt a solution that will enable the Gradiška border crossing to open as soon as possible, in the interest of everyone and BiH’s economy, while respecting the principles of professionalism, legality, and accountability to BiH. The Management Board of the ITA of BiH did not adopt the amendments to the Rulebook on Internal Organization of the ITA at today’s second extraordinary session, which would have enabled the new Gradiška border crossing to begin operations. Krnjić voted against this Rulebook for the fourth time.
