ŠERANIĆ: DIGITAL SYSTEM TO STRENGTHEN IMMUNIZATION PROCESS AND MONITORING
BANJA LUKA, DECEMBER 22 /SRNA/ – The Minister for Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska Alen Šeranić has stated today that the new information system of the Institute of Public Health will improve both the immunization process and coverage in Republika Srpska.
Šeranić said that the Institute's new information system for more efficient planning and monitoring of immunization will enable epidemiologists to have clearer data on which child in Republika Srpska has not been immunized and with which vaccine. "Epidemiologists and everyone working in immunization centers, by using this system, will have more time to devote to patients," Šeranić told reporters at the Institute's conference titled "Digitalization in Public Health: A New Information System for More Efficient Planning and Monitoring of Immunization Processes". Acting Director of the Institute of Public Health of Republika Srpska Bojan Đenić has stressed that the system will begin operating in several health centers at the start of next year, with the plan to have it implemented across the entire Republika Srpska by the end of 2026. "We have been working on this project for several years. It will facilitate the Institute's work in multiple aspects related to monitoring immunization. We will be able to react in real time if vaccination coverage declines in certain local communities," Đenić said. He added that the system will also ensure high-quality vaccine transportation. Head of UNICEF's Health Section in BiH Jela Aćimović said that UNICEF supported the project with the aim of strengthening immunization programs. She explained that the electronic immunization system and digitalization do not represent merely a technical solution, but allow all data to be available in real time, making it much easier for health workers to manage vaccine quantities, and enable more precise planning. "The most important thing we gain from this is that no child is left forgotten," Aćimović said.
