KOVAČEVIĆ: REGULATOR LAW ALREADY UNDER CONSIDERATION IN HOUSE OF PEOPLES
SARAJEVO, DECEMBER 23 /SRNA/ – The Delegate of the Serb Club in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly Radovan Kovačević has said today that the Draft Law on the Regulator, Transmission, and Electricity Market in BiH is already in procedure in the House of Peoples and that the procedures of this house must be respected.
Kovačević reminded that the House of Peoples had previously held a debate on the law and voted for it to be considered under an expedited procedure, noting that delegates should be preparing amendments rather than proposing that the House consider a different version of the law. "We are not against this law; we only need to respect our own procedures and ourselves, if we have decided that we will decide on this law under an expedited procedure," Kovačević said, adding that certain delegates defend from SNSD the law proposed by a minister from that party. According to him, for months there has been talk about two European laws that are key to everything, yet today some delegates say they will not support them. "And then they say that SNSD members are to blame, while we came and helped ensure that the issue is placed on the agenda. We want a debate, and you say you will not do that. Obviously, everything is more important to you than the European path, and above all, your own interests," Kovačević said. Head of the Croat Club in the House of Peoples Marina Pendeš said that proposals by delegates seeking to add the Draft Law on the Regulator, Transmission, and Electricity Market in BiH to the agenda were populist, noting that the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) will be charged until the electricity exchange is established, not until the law is adopted. "The adoption of the law does not mean that CBAM charges will cease, but rather the establishment of an electricity exchange. Therefore, these proposals by delegates to consider the text of the law adopted by the House of Representatives are populist, and I support the proposal of delegate Safet Softić that the basic text of the law be considered at one of the upcoming sessions," Pendeš said.
