BANJA LUKA, December 23 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Minister of the Interior Željko Budimir said today that police officers from Republika Srpska who were presented with certificates of appreciation for professionalism and selflessness performed a feat worthy of admiration, confirming that the Police of Republika Srpska is among the best in the region.

Speaking at a ceremonial reception in Banja Luka held on the occasion of awarding certificates of appreciation to 36 brave police officers, Budimir stressed that no state can function without a police force, as it carries out its duties with the aim of protecting citizens and ensuring their free and peaceful lives. "Police work is extremely demanding and requires immense courage. Proof of this are the 782 police officers who were killed during the Defence and Patriotic War and 33 who lost their lives in peacetime," Budimir added. He congratulated the awarded police officers. "Thank you for reminding us that quality work and dedication also require great sacrifice," Budimir said. Thirty-six police officers of the Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior demonstrated a high level of professionalism and selflessness over the past year while saving human lives and showing exceptional humanity in the performance of their duties, and were therefore presented with certificates of appreciation today in Banja Luka. The ceremony, held at the MUP Training Centre in Zalužani, was also attended by the Director of the Police of Republika Srpska Siniša Kostrešević.
