BANJA LUKA, DECEMBER 26 /SRNA/ - The Tourism Organization of Republika Srpska is satisfied with the recently concluded record season, as tourism as an economic sector in Republika Srpska continues to record steady growth in the number of tourists, revenues and arrivals.

Public relations associate Sanela Šimun told SRNA that, according to information from the field, a successful winter tourist season is also expected, which should surpass previous ones. Šimun said that during the first ten months of this year, Republika Srpska was visited by 442,353 tourists who generated 1,039,334 overnight stays, representing a 4.6 percent increase in arrivals and a 2.5 percent increase in overnight stays compared with the same period last year. "As in previous years, in addition to domestic tourists, the largest numbers of visitors came from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Montenegro, while among other countries Turkey, Germany, Austria, China and Italy stand out," Šimun noted. She said that domestic tourists recorded the highest number of overnight stays in spa resorts, followed by tourist destinations with attractive features, as well as mountain resorts and other destinations that cannot be classified into any of the listed categories but offer hospitality accommodation facilities. "Foreign tourists recorded the highest number of overnight stays in other tourist destinations, followed by spa resorts and then mountain areas," Šimun added.
